Walt Disney World and Blue Star Families surprised military families with a day of connection and joy at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. The event, part of Disney Celebrates America, honored the nation’s 250th anniversary while recognizing the service and sacrifice of military families.
Throughout the day, Walt Disney World VoluntEARS joined more than 200 military family members for interactive arts and crafts while distributing Disney books and plush toys to children. In true Disney fashion, Mickey Mouse even stopped by, adding an extra touch of Disney magic to the event.
Thehighlight of the day came when families were surprised with tickets to Walt Disney World, giving them the opportunity to create lasting memories togetherat the resort.
Supporting Military Families Through Meaningful Connections
The event highlights Disney’s commitment to military families. As part of Disney Celebrates America, Disney previously announced a $2.5 million donation to BlueStar Families, building on a 15-year relationship. The organization provides critical support to military families, including programs focused on education, community building and wellness.
Also in attendance was Second Lady of the United States Usha Vance, who shared a story with the children, reinforcing the event’s focus on storytelling, connection, and quality time together.
For the Walt Disney World Ambassadors, who represent the more than 80,000 cast members at the resort, the experience was especially meaningful.
“Coming from a military family, I know how important time together is,” said Walt Disney World Ambassador Phelicia Blake. “It meant so much to help create those moments for these families.”
Initiatives like these reflect a shared commitment to uplifting military families through meaningful experiences.
“Itwas such an honor to give back to those who give so much to our country,” saidWalt Disney World Ambassador Kylee Withers. “Creating magic for militarychildren is something I will never forget.”
